Claudette Colvin: September 5, 1939-present (age 77). Born in Alabama. First to be arrested for resisting bus segregation in Montgomery, Alabama. The incident was on March 2, 1955.
Emmett Till: July 25, 1941-August 28-1955. Born in Chicago, Illinois. Lynched after accused of flirting with a white woman at the age of 14. NAACP: February 12, 1909-present. Formed by Ida B. Wells, W. E. B. Du Bois, Archibald Grimké, Oswald Villard, Lillian Wald, Mary Ovington, William Walling, and Henry Moskowitz.
